Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with candidate of the Arab Republic of Egypt for the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Khaled El-Enany whose candidacy for this position Serbia officially supported.

Đurić said that Serbia is a sincere and dedicated partner in preserving the fundamental values on which UNESCO is founded.
The head of Serbian diplomacy expressed concern about the continuous attacks on Serbian cultural and religious heritage in Kosovo and Metohija, especially on monuments on the List of World Heritage in Danger.
The Minister specifically emphasised that the possible consideration of the application for membership of the so-called Kosovo’s inclusion in UNESCO would be absolutely unacceptable for the Republic of Serbia, as it would lead to a deeper division among members, politicisation of cultural heritage, and seriously undermine the credibility of the organisation itself.
