Minister of Education Professor Dejan Vuk Stanković, PhD, emphasised today that Serbia’s accession to the global initiative Giga will enable further improvement of the quality of connectivity of educational institutions, with a focus on schools, as key points in connecting local communities.

Stanković met in Geneva with Christopher Fabian, the Co-Lead of this global initiative, which is implemented under the auspices of UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union, and aims to enable universal connectivity of schools to the Internet.
The Minister pointed out that this programme is aimed at bridging the digital divide, especially when it comes to connecting rural and remote areas to the Internet.
The Giga initiative, as he specified, brings together 40 countries around the world and cooperates with initiatives within UNICEF, the International Telecommunication Union and beyond.
