Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Ivana Dulic-Markovic and President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) René Van der Linden agreed today that Serbia needs to meet its international obligations and end its cooperation with the Hague tribunal so that the country could continue the process of European integration.
The PACE president said that he gave PACE’s full support to Serbia’s integration processes.
Speaking on the necessity of passing a new constitution, Van der Linden said that Serbia should consult the Venice Commission so that it makes sure that the highest legal act is in full accordance with European standards.
Dulic-Markovic and Van der Linden agreed that Serbia’s presiding over the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers from May 2007 is a big honour and obligation for our country.
Van der Linden expressed belief that Serbia will do that job professionally and responsibly and that it will be a chance to promote regional cooperation as well.
