Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović attended today the ceremonial opening of the reconstructed part of the Požarevac General Hospital, as part of a cross-border cooperation project between Serbia and Romania worth more than €11.5 million.

The renovation was implemented with the support of the EU, through the project “Romania-Serbia joint initiative against cancer in cross-border region: improved diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors”.
Starović emphasised the importance of opening the reconstructed hospital facility in cooperation with Romania, a partner, neighbour and friend, under the auspices of European cooperation.
The total value of this project exceeds €11.5 million, of which more than €4.5 million was invested in Požarevac from the EU’s IPA funds, with additional investments from the Republic of Serbia in the amount of €1.6 million.
More than 7,000 square metres have been reconstructed, the most modern medical equipment has been purchased, new operating rooms have been opened, and the capacities and conditions for treating patients have been significantly improved.
