Srebrenica remains on the conscience of all humankind, because not enough was done to prevent the massacre. Those who committed crimes must be brought to justice and punished. That is essential for reconciliation, not just in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the region, but also in Europe.
A crime must not be allowed to remain hidden, or go unpunished. It is not possible to erase the pain or to change the past, but we can and we have to reach for truth and justice together.
We owe that to the victims, their families, but to all humanity, which was defeated on July 11, 1995.
That is why Srebrenica is not just the past, but gives a view of the future, which we must create on principles of truth and justice,” reads the statement by the Deputy Prime Minister.
