Minister without portfolio in charge of gender equality, prevention of violence against women and economic and political empowerment of women Tatjana Macura met today in Raška with Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija to discuss the increasingly frequent gender-based and ethnic violence against Serb women in the province.

It was particularly emphasised that such forms of violence are part of a broader pattern of systemic pressure aimed at intimidating and displacing the Serb population from Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the complete lack of adequate response and protection by the provisional institutions in Priština.
In cooperation with social welfare centres and local representatives, the Minister’s Office is initiating the collection of concrete data and documentation of cases, in order to raise this issue at the international level, before relevant forums and partners, Macura stated.
