Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Ivana Dulic-Markovic met today with Norwegian Minister of Defence Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen. They agreed that EU integration is the future of Serbia, but that the pace of accession depends on Serbia's fulfillment of obligations.
Dulic-Markovic said that Serbia will not give up on its European future, adding that it has to show concrete results and demonstrate that it is constructively engaged to achieve this future.
She said that Serbia sees the reform of the defence sector as one of the priority tasks, indispensable for the development of the entire society and for standards fulfillment that will enable the country to formally become part of the Euroatlantic community, where it belongs.
Strøm-Erichsen praised Serbia's work on the reform of the defence sector so far, stressing the importance of continuing this process.
Dulic-Markovic and Strøm-Erichsen also discussed the possibility that expert medical staff from Serbia take part in peace keeping missions, adding that this would improve and strengthen Serbia's partner relations with Euroatlantic structures.
