Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Ivana Dulic-Markovic talked today with Finnish Ambassador Anna-Maija Korpi, who said that the doors of the European Union are wide open to Serbia, but Serbia must take responsibility and make concrete moves so that the negotiations on stabilisation and association can be continued.
Dulic-Markovic and Korpi reached agreement that the first necessary step is to adopt an action plan, which would envisage concrete measures for advancing cooperation with the Hague tribunal. Korpi stressed that the EU will offer adequate support for the realisation of the action plan.
The Finnish Ambassador, whose country assumed presidency of the EU on July 1, said that member countries of the EU are also dissatisfied because negotiations with Serbia have been called off.
She said that Finland will continue to work on the path which was guaranteed to countries of the West Balkans at the Thessaloniki Summit. She added that there is political will for that, and it is up to Serbia to show firm determination for European integration.
