GDP grows 6.3%

The Serbian Statistics Office has stated today that the gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2006 stood at 250237.5 million dinars, showing a growth of 6.3% against the first quarter of 2005.
By sectors, a growth of 27.1% was recorded in transport, 20.1% in financial mediation, 17.1% in trade, 7.9% in the processing industry, and 5.6% in ore and stone mining. The hotels and restaurants sector fell by 10%, while in the sector of other services a fall of 2.6% was recorded. There was a fall of 0.6% in the production and distribution of electricity, gas and water.
