A statement by the Ministry of Finance says that the IMF believes that it is too early to discuss concluding a new arrangement since before that it is necessary to conduct consultations in line with article 4 of the IMF Statute, which include talks on monitoring economic policy in Serbia after the previous three-year arrangement that was successfully completed.
Dinkic, Jelasic and Deppler agreed that it is necessary to preserve macroeconomic stability and thus enable long-term sustainable economic growth, the statement adds.
The meeting was attended by IMF Resident Representative in Belgrade Harald Hirschhofer, head of IMF mission in Serbia-Montenegro Peter Doyle, State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of Finance Vesna Arsic, Head of the Treasury Directorate Vesna Dzinic, Assistant Minister of Finance Vladimir Vukojevic and Vice Governor of the National Bank of Serbia Ana Gligorijevic.
