Head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Sanda Raskovic-Ivic said that when talks on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija are continued on May 23, Serbian negotiators will demand that safety zones be formed to protect around 40 religious and cultural monuments in the province.
In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Raskovic-Ivic said that the Belgrade team plans to present "a position paper" that will mostly refer to the issue of administrative and territorial protection of churches and monasteries and other objects of cultural importance in Kosovo.
She specified that the team will present a list of 400 cultural monuments in Kosovo-Metohija and demand the formation of safety zones for approximately 40 monuments of religious and cultural importance.
According to Raskovic-Ivic, the Belgrade team wishes to present these zones to their "ethnic-Albanian partners and partners from the international community". Therefore, apart from the standing negotiators, the Serbian delegation will also comprise three bishops appointed by the Serbian Orthodox Church.
