We want to preserve Kosovo within Serbia and to give it a great degree of autonomy, Samardzic said and added that if some powers think that division of Serbia and Kosovo independence is normal, then why should not the division of Kosovo be a normal thing as well.
Samardzic said that historic and territorial compromise is theoretically a best solution, but it is different in practice.
Commenting on statements of certain US officials on giving Kosovo in exchange for Serbia’s speedier EU integration, Kojen said that this is not viable from the EU’s point while Serbia cannot accept that by any means.
Samardzic and Kojen said that there were many contradictory statements from the Albanian side in the talks in Vienna and added that what the Albanian side offers to Serbs does not allow them either to return or stay in Kosovo, Samardzic said.
The fifth round of Kosovo status talks will take place on May 23 in Vienna, when the main topic will be preservation of religious and cultural heritage.
