At a public discussion themed "Europe in Present Day Serbia", Popovic recalled that at the moment, there are only two dumps in Serbia constructed in line with EU standards and that to solve the waste disposal problem, all municipalities must cooperate.
It is up to municipalities to agree on the location of regional dumps and the state will finance the drafting of the project, he said.
According to Popovic, Serbia will be able to cover up to 50% of costs for the construction of dumps, thanks to the Brussels' and other funds.
He said the major problem was the lack of organisational aspects in municipalities themselves, as well as of willingness to cooperate, on behalf of municipal authorities.
