Head of the Serbian government's EU Integration Office Tanja Miscevic received last night the 2006 European Contribution of the Year award, granted by the European Movement in Serbia together with the International European Movement.

This is the fifth time the award has been held and it is given to the person who has most contributed with their work to the EU integration process and the promotion of European ideas and values in Serbia.
Previous award winners were former Minister of Foreign Affairs Goran Svilanovic (2002), Assistant Ministers of International Economic Relations Dusko Lopandic and Gordana Lazarevic (2003 and 2005) and journalist Jasmina Seferovic (2004).
As part of the observation ceremony of Europe Day, May 9, President of the European Movement in Serbia Zivorad Kovacevic presented the award.
Miscevic stated that the award does not belong to her alone, but also to the Serbian government's EU Integration Office. She thanked all who have helped and cooperated in preparations for the negotiations with the EU.
Following the award ceremony, a discussion themed "Europe in Present Day Serbia" was held. Finance minister Mladjan Dinkic and Minister of Science and Environmental Protection Aleksandar Popovic took part in the discussion and talked about the fulfillment of European standards in their ministries and steps to be taken in the future.
