Following the medical examination of the children Milosavljevic recalled that the “guide for treating asthma in children” is one of the first guides to good clinical practice that was adopted in Serbia three and a half years ago, due to the prevalence of the disease, and because of the necessity of establishing unique standards which will be implemented in all health establishments in an approximately uniform manner.
He stressed that in the previous few years the list of medicines for treating asthma has tended to expand on the positive list of the Health Insurance Fund.
On the occasion of the World Asthma Day, the People’s Office of the Serbian President organised the action “I have asthma-so what”. In the framework of this programme the most socially deprived children from various areas of Serbia, including Kosovo-Metohija, arrived in Belgrade, where they received medical examination by the best pulmonologists.
This humanitarian activity, which also includes six months therapy that children will receive upon their return home, was supported by the pharmaceutical company Glaxo Smith Cline, and Yugoslav Association for Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (YUDAH).
Children, who arrived in Belgrade yesterday, will be received by Serbian President Boris Tadic today, after which they will visit the Kalamegdan fort and the Belgrade Zoo.
