Ilic said on the occasion that the large number of exhibitors from abroad at this year’s fair shows the openness of Serbia, but also highlights the interest of foreign firms in building in Serbia. He added that many major firms have already responded to tenders in the field of economic infrastructure, where record investment is expected this year.
The Minister said that in one month the projects “Prokop” and Sava’s Amphitheatre will be continued, as well as the works on the ring-road around Belgrade. He added that the programme “Habitat”, which is being implemented in seven cities of Serbia in cooperation with the United Nations, will be expanded.
Ilic also mentioned the law on social insurance, which is in preparation and will lead to an increase in the number of housing facilities. He said that construction can be of good quality, swiftly built and low-cost, as proven by the construction of houses in Jasa Tomic, where construction per square metre cost €250.
According to Ilic, from the sum of € 1 billion acquired as privatisation proceeds, some €350 million to €400 million will be invested in building, because it is the key factor in the development of the country.
Ilic said that leading international firms have responded to the tender for the Horgos-Pozega-South Adriatic motorway.
