Following the signing of the agreement Parivodic said that one of the main aims of Serbia on an economic level is to become a member of the WTO within the next three years.
He said that Serbia is fast implementing reforms in the economic legal system. He added that these reforms have been acknowledged by the World Bank.
Parivodic said that Canada has given valuable support and cooperation to Serbia-Montenegro from the very beginning of the negotiation process with the European Union, and the Canadian embassy in Belgrade is a trusty partner.
The Minister also congratulated the Canadian mining firm Dundee on becoming a cooperative partner of the Bor mining and metallurgical complex.
Ambassador McDougall said that Canada has many more programmes which are currently active and are directed towards the three main fields of education, health and judiciary.
He said that it is necessary for Serbia to become a member of the WTO in order to become an equal partner and to create space for new investment, which would be more easily available to the country once it enters that organisation.
