At the opening ceremony of the 11th international horticulture fair "Hortikultura 2006" and the 9th international exhibition "Darovi Prirode", Dulic-Markovic said that by agreeing to sponsor the fair, the ministry concurred to extend the meaning of the term horticultural plants to imply fruit and vegetables besides ornamental plants.
She stressed that judging by the number of exhibitors, this year's fair is two times larger than last year's. Because of the increased interest of exhibitors, the ministry will demand that next year the fair be separated from the tourism fair and held on a different day.
The exhibition programme of this year's fair includes flowers and ornamental plants, seedlings, interior design solutions, watering systems and glass houses, as well as fertilizers, gardening equipment, fungi, honey and honey products and medical and spice herbs.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, together with the Belgrade School of Forestry, has prepared an accompanying programme related to organic and non-organic production, management and marketing in landscape architecture, integral protection of ornamental plants and new trends in landscape architecture.
