Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Ivana Dulic-Markovic and Inspector General of the Serbian Ministry of Interior Vladimir Bozovic visited dikes on the Tisa river in the village of Mosorin near Titel.
Dulic-Markovic said that the dikes might not resist and for that reason, the Coordinating body should make the lists of citizens who might be evacuated. She called on citizens to follow the directives of local crisis response teams.
Bozovic said that all police and army forces are on the ground and ready to help in the fight against floods. He also called on citizens to follow the instructions of crisis response teams in the event that the evacuation is necessary.
Head of the Coordinating body and Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic today visited the village of Bogdanje which is the largest landslide area in Serbia. This village will be dislocated.
Ilic told Tanjug news agency that the construction of new houses in Bogdanje has been suspended because of heavy rains in the recent days, but that the works will now be continued.
The Minister recalled that the Serbian government approved some 195 million dinars for reconstruction of houses damaged by landslides and floods.
Reconstruction works were launched yesterday in Koceljeva, Osecina, Ljig, Valjevo and Ljubovija, Ilic said and added that all mechanisation in Serbia has been put to use to clean up consequences of landslides and floods.
Ilic also visited Trstenik, Brus, Cacak, Lucane and Ivanjica, and voiced hope that natural disasters which hit Serbia will not leave grave consequences.
Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic said today during a visit to the hospital in Stari Slankamen that 260 patients currently treated there are not immediately endangered by floods.
Milosavljevic said that patients are placed in the upper floors of the building and that situation in the hospital is under control, so there is no need to evacuate patients at the moment.
The water is constantly pumped out of the rooms in which vital installations are placed.
Milosavljevic stressed that despite that, an operational plan has been made together with the Indjija municipality and provincial authorities for the possible evacuation of patients, which is not necessary for now.
The Minister of Health said that the epidemiological situation is under control and that in all parts of Serbia hit by floods epidemiological services are on increased alert, especially when it comes to control of drinking water.
The Minister of Health visited the hospital in Stari Slankamen in the company of hospital's director Mirjana Albot and representatives of the Indjija crisis response team for flood protection.
