Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo voiced hope today, upon the visit to flood-stricken areas in the Titel municipality, that dikes on the Tisa will resist and that the river will not burst its banks.
Bubalo said that the receding of the Danube in the major part of its flow through Serbia is a good sign that the Tisa as well might recede. The Minister recalled that due to the seriousness of the situation on the ground, the Serbian government decided to declare a state of emergency in the municipalities of Zitiste, Veliko Gradiste and Negotin,
while the state of emergency over floods was declared yesterday in the municipalities of Zabalj, Titel and Zrenjanin.
Bubalo and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar also visited flooded areas around Zabaljski Most bridge, where barricades are built by the army.
