Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić, said today that in the process of accession of the Western Balkans to the European Union, all resources must be pooled in order to solve all the challenges that this part of Europe is facing.
At the meeting of European foreign ministers of the informal group "Friends of the Western Balkans" and partners from the Western Balkans, which is being held in Gottweig, Austria, Đurić pointed out that many in the Western Balkans are under the impression that in certain political circles there is a principle of "one in, one out", when it comes to EU enlargement, which affects the public's perception of the enlargement process.
By 2027, Serbia plans to complete all major legislative, economic and political reforms required for joining the European Union. Our priorities are very clearly set. In addition, we want to continue to be a factor of stability and help preserve peace in the region, emphasized the head of Serbian diplomacy, underlining that this can only be achieved in cooperation with Brussels and other parties in the region.
Also, Đurić pointed out that Belgrade makes decisions independently and strives to harmonise its policies as much as possible with the common foreign and security policy of the European Union on the way to achieving full membership.
We want full membership as the ultimate goal and nothing less. There will be no compromise on that issue, the Minister said.
