Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said today during a tour of the works on Iriški venac tunnel that the Fruška Gora corridor project will revive Srem and that the works are proceeding according to plan.
Vučević stated that every detail regarding safety is being carefully considered and that he is particularly pleased that the tunnelling progress has been accelerated, so that it now takes four months to complete something that previously required nine months.
He reiterated that this tunnel provides tangible protection for the Fruška Gora National Park, as there will no longer be traffic passing through it, and there will be no emission of harmful gases, and at the same time it is of great importance for Irig and Srem, which the corridor will revive.
Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić reminded that Iriški venac tunnel is 3.5 kilometres long and will be the longest in Serbia.
According to him, 52 percent has been completed so far, and the corridor will be completed by September 2026, except for the work on Europe Boulevard.
The fact that this tunnel will change the way of life shows how much this will mean to the people who live here. This is proof that we can do great things together, said Vesić.
Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Vučević and Minister Vesić for their commitment to the project.
I am pleased that Serbia is making progress in terms of infrastructure. I believe that with the help of the Prime Minister and all of us, we can complete the corridor within the given timeframe. This will be the longest tunnel in all of Serbia, noted Ming.
