Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic said on the occasion that health centres in all the districts of Serbia will get these vehicles, which are capable of reaching the most far flung of villages.
He expressed gratitude to the European Union who through the EAR secured this donation worth €220,000, within the framework of the Serbian Ministry of Health project “Improving Preventive Health Services in Serbia”.
Head of the European Commission Delegation to Serbia-Montenegro Josep Lloveras said that the vehicles will be distributed to health centres from Sombor to Vranje and Uzice to Zajecar, with the aim to bring the Serbian health sector closer to EU standards. He said that help for the development of preventive health services in Serbia will be continued in the upcoming period.
Head of the European Agency for Reconstruction’s Office in Serbia-Montenegro Daniel Giuglaris said that 25 health centres to which the vehicles have been delivered should establish centres for preventive health services, whose main task will be to work with healthy people leading to diagnosis of diseases in the early stage.
Giuglaris said that the EU, through the EAR, will continue to provide support to the health sector in Serbia.
