Government to send aid to all flooded areas

Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar and Mayor of Novi Sad Maja Gojkovic visited today final works on setting dikes in Novi Sad.
Loncar said that owing to all measures taken, citizens do not have to worry because Novi Sad is not endangered, but voiced hope that the announced rains will not additionally aggravate the situation.
He said that the Serbian government will offer maximum aid to all citizens, not only in Novi Sad, but throughout entire Vojvodina and Serbia.
Novi Sad Mayor Maja Gojkovic said that the city is completely prepared for the first large wave that is expected and that everything has been done to protect citizens of Novi Sad.
She thanked everyone who worked on the protection of the city, adding that a new large wave is announced for April 17 because of which the protection works have to continue. Underground waters will also cause big problems.
Gojkovic said that citizens of Novi Sad have proved to be very conscientious and that public companies and citizens volunteers have done an excellent job on the protection of their city.
