Serbian Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar said last night in Krusevac that the regional water-supply project is the most favourable contract offered to Serbia in the past two years. The project includes capacity building of the Water Supply Factory in Majdevo near Krusevac and will be realised with the help of the French government.
In a statement to the Beta news agency following meetings with representatives of six municipalities of the Rasina district, Loncar said that the project should enable that water bacteriologically suitable for drinking is supplied to the neighbouring municipalities. The current flow rate of 600 litres per second should be increased three times, he added.
Loncar explained that Veolia Water Systems will grant a loan with the repayment period of 20 years, a five-year grace period and a 1.2% annual interest rate. The entire project is worth €7.5 million, he added.
Municipality representatives told Loncar that when the works on the project are completed, they will pay back the loan by paying the "investment dinar" along with the regular water utilities.
