Milan Parivodic
Parivodic also told journalists that according to the assessment of the European Commissioner negotiations on goods and services, within the framework of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, are going well.
According to Parivodic, at a meeting with Mandelson in Bucharest, the Serbian government delegation, led by Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, brought up the unresolved questions in the coordination between the EU and other members of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Mandelson said that he will endeavour to resolve these questions that are specific for the situation of Serbia-Montenegro. He added that the development of free trade between Southeastern European countries is an essential part of forming closer trade, commercial and political relations with the EU.
Parivodic said that today’s meeting in Bucharest was constructive. He added that Mandelson said that he is aware of the progress Serbia has made in reforms and that economic reforms are progressing fast.
The Summit being held in Bucharest aims to start negotiations on realising a single free trade agreement in the region by expanding, restructuring and modernising the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), which will function also after Romania and Bulgaria join the EU.
The single free trade agreement should replace a total of 31 existing bilateral agreements on free trade in the zone.
