The government has adopted a Conclusion directing humanitarian aid in goods to the State of Palestine, as a form of aid to the vulnerable population due to the critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
Humanitarian aid is provided in the form of food, water, medical equipment, as well as tents to accommodate families.
The total value of the goods is close to €3 million, with a weight of close to 900 tons.
Given the urgency of the situation and the determination of our country to help the Palestinian population, the aid is being sent in two flights, the first flight of which is flying today, while the second is being sent tomorrow.
Appreciating the importance of humanitarian aid, today's plane with goods, according to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be welcomed by the ambassador of our country in Egypt.
Given the complexity of the situation, no one can estimate the period in which these goods will reach the people of Gaza.
The rest of the humanitarian aid will be transported by ship on several occasions.
The plan is that when the aid arrives in Egypt, it will be picked up by the Egyptian Red Crescent and trucked further into the Gaza Strip.
All this speaks of the complexity of the procedure for the delivery of humanitarian aid, as well as its necessity.
By the same conclusion, the government also agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the government responds to the call of the specialised agency of the United Nations for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) to provide financial support to the Programme for Emergency Aid to Gaza, by paying funds in the amount of €10,000.
