Decree on incentives for employment of newly settled individuals terminated

The government today adopted the Decree on the Termination of the Decree on the Criteria for Awarding Incentives to Employers Hiring Newly Settled Individuals in the Republic of Serbia, in view of the increased number of employers applying for subsidies, as well as the rising number of newly settled individuals.

This development has rendered it unfeasible to plan future budgetary obligations under the decree, which provides that funds shall be disbursed up to the level of available budgetary resources, in accordance with the Law on the Budget for the years in which the incentives are paid.

Nevertheless, employers hiring newly settled individuals remain entitled to tax relief in the form of a reduced salary tax base for newly settled taxpayers, in accordance with the Law on Personal Income Tax.

At the same session, the government also adopted the Decree on the Detailed Conditions and Manner of Exercising the Right to Financial Support for the Construction, Co-financing or Purchase of a House or Apartment on the Basis of Childbirth. This decree sets out the required documentation related to loans, procedures for submission of applications, deadlines and other relevant matters.

The government also adopted several bills on the ratification of international agreements, including the Agreement with North Macedonia on the Establishment of Joint Border Controls at the Preševo (Republic of Serbia) and Tabanovce (Republic of North Macedonia) Border Crossings for International Road Traffic; the Agreement on Cooperation in the Area of Defence between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Ghana; and the Agreement on Cooperation in the Area of Defence between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini.
