Serbian President hosts ceremonial welcome for President of People’s Republic of China

Belgrade, 8 May 2024

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić hosted a ceremonial welcome for President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in front of the Palace of Serbia, with 10 gun salutes from 10 artillery pieces, the playing of the national anthem, and the lining up of the guard of honour.

The President of the People's Republic of China and First Lady Peng Liyuan were welcomed on the red carpet by President Vučić and his wife Tamara, as well as Prime Minister Miloš Vučević with Serbian government members and deputy prime ministers and Governor of the National Bank of Serbia Jorgovanka Tabaković.

After the ceremonial welcome, the two presidents will head to the northern terrace of the Palace of Serbia, from where they will greet a large number of gathered citizens, who have been arriving at the plateau since this morning, carrying the flags of the two countries.

After that, a meeting of the presidents of Serbia and China will be held in a narrow format, to be followed by a plenary meeting of the delegations of the two countries led by Vučić and Xi Jinping.

The timetable of the visit includes the ceremony of signing the Joint Statement and the exchange of signed bilateral documents, after which the two presidents will address the media.
