Sokolovic said that because of its geographical position, Serbia can help connect energy sources in East and central Europe and added that the formation of the Southeast Europe Energy Union is inevitable because without an integrated market, energy sources will be increasingly difficult to obtain.
In a statement to the Beta news agency, Sokolovic said that energy stability and safety, energy sources and interconnectedness of countries imply integrated markets. These should be transparent and function on the same principles, with an equal availability of energy at affordable prices.
Sokolovic added that intensive negotiations are underway concerning the construction of the oil pipeline Constanta-Pancevo-Omisalj-Trieste.
This three-day conference is being attended by representatives of state parties to the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the European Union, the US, important energy companies and many investors. Its purpose is the creation of a single energy market in Southeast Europe, safety corridors for energy transport and liberalisation in the field of energy.
