Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus said today in a meeting with Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Gerlando Genuardi that the contribution that this institution makes is of great importance for Serbia’s reform policy, particularly in the infrastructure, health and education sectors.
Genuardi announced that a €80 million contract on rehabilitation of the road network and bridges and a €23 million contract on rehabilitation of the rail network will be signed on April 19.
The two officials discussed the importance of the completion of two branches of Corridor 10 leading to Dimitrovgrad and from Leskovac to the border with Macedonia as well as ways to secure the funding for these projects.
Genuardi informed Labus on the realisation of street reconstruction in Belgrade, reconstruction of four clinical centres, as well as financing the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Serbia.
Labus and Genuardi also discussed the connection between EU’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) donation programme and loans that Serbia may get from the EIB and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Labus pointed out that it is necessary to harmonise the policies of crediting and donations in order to achieve better results in the reform process in Serbia.
