First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today with Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Matteo Mecacci, who is on a two-day official visit to Serbia.
During the talks, excellent cooperation between Serbia and ODIHR was noted, which provides effective help and support in improving the electoral process, strengthening democratic institutions and implementing reforms in areas that are a priority for Serbia.
Dacic expressed his gratitude for the participation of ODIHR observers in the extraordinary parliamentary elections in Serbia held on 17 December 2023, assessing that their presence and expert support played a key role in fostering an atmosphere of trust and credibility of the election process.
The First Deputy Prime Minister expressed his expectation that this will also be the case with the upcoming Belgrade elections.
Mecacci highlighted the close and excellent cooperation with the competent institutions in Serbia, which was intensified after the end of the election process.
He pointed out that ODIHR appreciates the openness of the Serbian side for cooperation and the readiness to implement the recommendations from the final report in the best way.
