Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Radomir Naumov said that at today's ministerial conference in Thessalonica the importance of energy for development of the process of cooperation of the countries of southeastern Europe was discussed as was the implementation of the Energy Community Treaty, signed on October 25 last year in Athens.

Naumov told the Tanjug news agency that energy, as a fundamental factor of development of this part of Europe, was the main topic of today's ministerial conference, as it is of the entire process of cooperation of countries of southeastern Europe, currently presided over by Greece.
According to Naumov, special attention was paid to the improvement of cooperation in the fields of electric power and natural gas.
Naumov said that a joint communiqué was adopted at the conference, which highlights the importance of speeding up the implementation of the Energy Community Treaty and boosting energy efficiency and electricity saving in the countries of southeastern Europe.
The Minister of Energy said that another important issue discussed at the conference was the intensification of cooperation and improvement of electricity supply security, in a move to create an integrated electricity market at which the same rules will be applied and secure functioning provided.
