Encouraging growth of bioeconomy start-up ecosystem

The Serbian government adopted today the Conclusion on consent to conclude a Memorandum of Understanding between the Serbian Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation and Merck KGaA, Frankfurt, the Federal Republic of Germany, in order to formalise the intention of exploring and accepting different opportunities for collaboration within the BIO4 campus, in a mutually beneficial way.

The adoption of this document will encourage the growth of the bioeconomy start-up ecosystem, building the image of Serbia as a place with top scientists and talent, attractive for carrying out research and development in the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics and biodiversity.

The cooperation would refer to encouraging and supporting the realisation of the Curious 2024 - Future Insight Conference, an event that brings together some of the most prominent scientists and most successful inventors in the world to present their work and research the future of science and technology, Innovation Cup - a project that brings together students from all over the world to meet at Merck headquarters to learn from professionals and network, develop business plans and compete for prize money.

Also included is the Curiosity Cube project, a mobile science lab that showcases interactive hands-on experiments and allows visitors to ask questions and discuss future career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), collaborative research related to activities of research and development, as well as cooperation in the field of telemedicine development.

Government members adopted the Conclusion on the designation of the Ministry of Culture as the user of special parts of real estate in the public property of the Republic of Serbia for the needs of the "Car Museum - Collection of Bratislav Petkovic", so the area of the former garage of the federal authorities was designated for housing that valuable collection.
