Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said today that Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary have joined their electricity exchanges, which will enable simpler and more efficient trading in electricity in the region.
The agreement on the association of three exchanges was signed in Budapest by the directors of the transmission systems of Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia and the European stock exchange EPEX SPOT, as a shareholder in the ADEX company.
On that occasion, Djedovic Handanovic assessed that this is a great day for the accelerated further development of our electricity system and added that Hungary has joined the regional stock exchange established by Serbia and Slovenia, and Elektromreza Srbije becomes the owner of 25 percent of the electricity exchange in Slovenia and Hungary.
The minister stated that a common platform for trading on all three stock exchanges will further encourage the development of the regional electricity market and provide a strong and reliable market environment necessary for new investments.
General Director of Elektromreza Srbije Jelena Matejic pointed out that this merger brings us closer to the single European market, while providing easier access to a single trading service for all participants.
