Prime Minister Ana Brnabic announced today that the state will invest €25 million in the construction of the second phase of the Science Park in Nis and that the task is to complete it by October 2025.
At the cornerstone ceremony on the occasion of start of the second phase of the works, Brnabic uderlined that the investment in youth, education and infrastructure pays off hundredfold, pointing out that this project, which was presented in the “Leap into the Future – Serbia 2027“ plan is important for the future of our country.
The Prime Minister stated that over 100,000 people are employed in the ICT sector, pointing out that in 2023, total exports in this sector amounted to €3.44 billion.
She added that out of the total figure of exports in that sector, the surplus is approximately €2.6 billion.
Also, the Prime Minister expressed her belief that Serbia can become the development technology and innovation centre of Europe.
Our goal is for exports in the ICT sector to reach €10 billion by the end of 2027, as well as for this sector to employ 140,000 people, said Brnabic.
Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Matteo Colangeli emphasised that Serbia is achieving great success in terms of building science and technology parks and added that the bank is financing science and technology parks in Serbia with €80 million.
Director of Nis Science Park Milan Randjelovic pointed out that 50 companies with more than 500 employees operate in this science park.
These companies tripled their revenues, doubled the number of employees and developed over 200 new products, Randjelovic said.
The new facility in Nis, which will be built in the northwestern part of the complex of Nis Science Park, between the multi-purpose complex of the Faculty of Electronics and the Student Centre restaurant, will include approximately 9,500 square metres for office space and between 900 and 1,000 square metres for laboratory space.
