Interpol abolishes warrants for Ceku, Thaci of its own accord

Advisor to the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Simic said today that it is perfectly clear that Interpol has of its own accord abolished warrants for Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Ceku and President of the Kosovo Democratic Party Hashim Thaci.

In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Simic said that Serbia's state organs did not repeal proceedings against Ceku and Thaci and that warrants for their arrest were issued because they did not answer the court summons.
"It is not good when politicians and politics interfere in legal procedures and proceedings, especially when it comes to indictments for severe crimes, and in the case of these two ethnic-Albanians we have reason to suspect that these crimes were committed", he said.
According to Simic, even if this politics is embodied in the United Nations or the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy, "it cannot be good for the principle of the rule of law and equal criteria for perpetrators of war crimes regardless of their ethnicity, religion or origin".
