Djedovic Handanovic is taking part in the Ministerial Meeting of the High-Level Group on Energy Connectivity of Central and South-Eastern Europe (CESEC), where ministers from the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe are present.
The Minister pointed out that the energy security of the Western Balkans is also the energy security of Europe and the main topic for better connection.
She stated that, when it comes to Serbia, the topic of discussion was also the construction of reversible hydropower plants, primarily RHE Bistrica.
As she explained, the intention is to further strengthen the connection with Romania, bearing in mind that the plan is to expand the capacity of hydroelectric power plants on Djerdap, and in the perspective of the construction of a new, reversible hydroelectric power plant Djerdap 3.
Djedovic Handanovic pointed out that after the Serbia-Bulgaria gas interconnection, Serbia will work on the connection with North Macedonia and Romania, which will bring additional sources of gas in case of need, while in the oil sector the priority is the construction of a new oil pipeline between Serbia and Hungary.
The Minister also highlighted the plans for the development of the transmission network, stressing that we will double transmission capacities with Hungary, and in the future with Bulgaria, by building the Central-Balkan Corridor, while with the completion of the Trans-Balkan Corridor, we will connect better with Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania and Italy.
On the sidelines of the Ministerial meeting, the Minister of Mining and Energy spoke with European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, who praised Serbia's visible progress in the energy sector and the efficient implementation of projects in the field of energy.
