Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Culture Maja Gojkovic and film director Emir Kusturica announced today that the 17th "Kustendorf" International Film Festival will be held from 23 to 27 January in Drvengrad.
Gojkovic pointed out at the press conference in the government of Serbia that the "Kustendorf" programme is based on the works of the masters of world cinematography, where the audience can watch the films of the world's best directors, and at the same time discover new, young and talented authors who are yet to be talked about.
Kusturica explained that the competition program consists of 17 films by authors from Austria, Finland, Greece, Poland, Sweden, Germany, United States, Egypt, Mexico, Uzbekistan, India, Czech Republic, Russia, Serbia, North Macedonia and Croatia.
According to him, the awards are Golden, Silver and Bronze Egg, as well as "Vilko Filac" for the best photography.
He said that the main guest of the festival is Matteo Garrone, the famous director of "Gomorrah" (2008), "Reality" (2012), "Dogman" (2018) and "Pinocchio" (2019), and he will arrive at "Kustendorf" with his with the new film "Il Capitano" (2023), with which he won the "Silver Lion" award for best director at the Venice festival.
The "Kustendorf" film festival will take place in Drvengrad, Mokra Gora, organised by the production company "Rasta International" owned by Emir Kusturica and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Mecavnik.
