Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic today presented the award "For Women in Science" for 2023 to Ana S. Dobrota, Isidora Keselj and Milica Radakovic.
The awards were also given out by Chairman of the Serbian Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO Goran Milasinovic and Regulatory Affairs and Scientific Director for Adria-Balkan and Romania at L'Oréal Ana Popara.
At the award ceremony, Begovic pointed out that in 13 years, 38 women were awarded with a total amount of RSD 20 million and added that the goal of those monetary awards is to encourage them to continue doing research work.
Ana Dobrota is a PhD in physical and chemical sciences at the Faculty of Physical Chemistry in Belgrade. Isidora Keselj is a teaching assistant for the narrow scientific field of animal physiology at the Department of Biology and Ecology of the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad and her work is based on finding a solution for male infertility.
Milica Radakovic works at the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad and deals with climate and environmental change research.
Milasinovic said that this programme has existed for 15 years and that this initiative between the foundation L'Oréal and UNESCO is an example of a good partnership.
Ana Popara pointed out that so far seven scientists who have received this award have also received the Nobel Prize, two of whom this year. Since its inception, 4,000 women from 116 countries have been awarded through this programme.
