The Serbian Government sent an official letter to Serbia-Montenegrin President Svetozar Marovic, demanding a more detailed explanation of the decision to adopt Serbia-Montenegrin Military Doctrine at yesterday's session of the Supreme Defence Council.
The official web site of the Serbian government brings the text of the letter in full.
The Serbian government has found out from the media that the Supreme Defence Council adopted yesterday the text of the Serbia-Montenegrin Military Doctrine. The statement reads that "by the end of the referendum process in Montenegro, the Doctrine will not be in force in commands, units and institutions located on the territory of Montenegro, which will be organised and managed by Montenegrin state bodies in coordination with the Ministry of Defence and the Supreme Defence Council."
The Serbian government thinks it is necessary that President of the state union and Council of Ministers Svetozar Marovic additionally elaborates on the decision. It is especially important to ascertain whether this decision implies a breach of the Constitutional Charter and constitutionally guaranteed status of the Serbia-Montenegrin Army. As this is of extreme importance to the functioning of the state, we demand that you inform us on this issue as soon as possible, reads the government's official letter to Svetozar Marovic.
