At today's session, the government of the Republic of Serbia adopted a conclusion that will ensure the cooperation of competent institutions for the introduction of a unique student electronic payment card for all 240,000 students in Serbia.
The student card aims to improve the standard of living of students, considering that it will enable numerous discounts and benefits. This is the first phase of the project, and the goal is the abolition of student documents in paper form, which has begun to be implemented in some European countries.
Registration of students started today and takes place through the portal of the Treasury Administration, at the address zsk.trezor.gov.rs. When applying, students will enter their personal ID number, select a faculty, enter a mobile phone number in order to be notified when the card is ready, and select the Postal Savings Bank branch where they want to pick up the card.
Given that the student card will be paid for for the first time, in the further development of the card support system, the system of applying for scholarships and connections within the higher education system will facilitate the daily life of students.
All students who apply for a card will have current accounts opened at Postal Savings Bank, the maintenance of which will be completely free. The card will be available to all 240,000 students and will be free of charge. Its maintenance is also free, unlike the existing one, which all students had to pay for.
The conclusion that was adopted today implies the acceptance of the Draft Agreement on Business-Technical Cooperation between the Ministry of Finance – Treasury Department, the Ministry of Education and Postal Savings Bank, which regulates mutual rights and obligations in connection with the issuance and use of student cards and issues of importance for the establishment and functioning of the application system for student cards and the system for supporting those cards.
