At the joint press conference with Mubarak, Dacic said that during the meeting an agreement was reached that the two countries should work on developing relations in all areas, especially economic cooperation, because foreign trade exchange is relatively small.
He pointed out that there are many opportunities for the development of cooperation, especially in the field of health, economy and agriculture, since Yemen is particularly interested in establishing cooperation with our agricultural institutes.
The two countries also have room for cooperation in the fields of culture, science and education, Dacic added, noting that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Yemen expressed interest in using scholarships for their students.
Recalling that diplomatic relations between Serbia and Yemen were established in 1957, the First Deputy Prime Minister said that at the meeting a proposal was made that in the future Serbia would cover Yemen diplomatically from Saudi Arabia, and not from Kuwait as was the case until now.
Also, he conveyed that he informed his interlocutor with the arguments of our country regarding Kosovo and Metohija and the preservation of territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Dacic repeated that Serbia will not make any move that would lead to the recognition of the independence of the so-called Kosovo, nor will it allow its membership in the UN.
We asked Yemen to be restrained and to respect the ongoing dialogue, as well as to keep its activities on that front frozen until the dialogue with Pristina is finished, Dacic said.
Mubarak reiterated that the meeting discussed how to speed up coordination between the two countries, as well as the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding on political consultations, in order to better understand key bilateral issues and interests.
The areas of health, education, agriculture and security are very important sectors for us, where we can achieve an agreement and revive old agreements, he concluded.
