Serbia advanced from 47th place to 42nd place and gained more points – 79.91 out of the total 100 (out of 72.98 points).
These results have been achieved through intensified efforts by the government of the Republic of Serbia to create better opportunities for young people and ensure a successful transition from the education system to the labour market.
The Declaration of the Western Balkans on the sustainable integration of young people into the labour market was confirmed and the National Youth Strategy until 2030 and the Action Plan for its implementation for the period from 2023 to 2025 were adopted, with RSD 3 billion allocated for its implementation.
On the initiative of young people, together with the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, the Law on Volunteering was drafted, and the establishment of youth centres was initiated.
The Law on Work Practices will be introduced into the legal system of the Republic of Serbia for the first time, and to support the transition of young people from the education system to the labour market, the "My First Salary" programme was created.
All the activities so far have made it possible to significantly reduce the unemployment of young people aged 15 to 24, which in 2012 was 51.2%, and in the second quarter of 2023 it will be 24.7%.
Young people also initiated additional government support for their entrepreneurship, so that in 2020 and 2021, 64,429 entrepreneurs were registered, of whom 39% are young people aged 18 to 35.
In the coming period, work will be done on creating additional opportunities for supporting youth entrepreneurship, supporting the independence of young people and building student complexes.
