Dacic said that Serbia advocates the strengthening of multilateralism as a basis for our further activities and action in wider international frameworks.
In extremely difficult global circumstances, Serbia, as the chair country of the UNESCO Executive Board, tried to efficiently and pragmatically contribute to the compromise solution to all issues in UNESCO in order to strengthen the role of this organisation, Dacic recalled.
He outlined some of the priorities on which our activities in the Executive Board will be based, if we are elected.
Serbia continuously and comprehensively supports UNESCO's "Priority Africa" in accordance with Agenda 2030, Agenda 2063 of the African Union and the needs and priorities of the African countries themselves.
We are ready to share with developing countries the exceptional experiences and achievements that Serbia has recorded in the past period, for example in the field of creative industries, where a 60 percent growth was recorded since 2014, and in just two years (2019-2021) a jump in GDP of 6 percent, Dacic explained.
Also, national minorities can be taught in their mother tongue, he said and added that Serbia continues to take steps in accordance with the Strategy for Gender Equality from 2021 to 2030.
Serbia is extremely committed and will continue to advocate the respect for and implementation of the Convention on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Convention on the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
According to him, one of our priority tasks is to raise awareness of the growing endangerment of world heritage due to various factors such as climate change, armed conflicts and the frequent absence of the implementation of adequate measures recommended by the Convention on the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
Dacic also pointed out that the cultural and historical heritage in Kosovo and Metohija, which is home to 1,300 holy places, is a pillar of our national, cultural and spiritual identity and that it is constantly exposed to attempts to rename and revise undeniable historical facts and has been physically threatened for many years.
