By symbolically taking over the shepherd's staff, Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujovic today assumed three-year presidency of the Carpathian Convention on behalf of our country, as part of the Seventh Conference of the Carpathian Convention - COP7, which is being held in Belgrade.

Vujovic said that the Carpathian Convention and its protocols represent a good mechanism for the preservation of natural resources and the sustainable development of the entire region.
Serbia will now play an even more important role, because by taking over the presidency, we are taking on greater responsibility for the realization of the goals of the Carpathian Convention, the minister underlined.
The Carpathian Convention, whose main goal is to ensure the sustainable use of natural resources, brings together seven countries of the Carpathian region – Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine and Serbia.
