Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar, Director of the Agency for Development of Local Self-Government Infrastructure Zoran Lakicevic and President of the Smederevo municipality Sasa Radosavljevic today signed an agreement on a donation for the reconstruction of streets and waterworks in Smederevo and several surrounding villages.
The cost of the project is estimated at €4 million. The European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) through the Agency for Development of Local Self-Government Infrastructure provided a donation worth €1.7 million. The Smederevo municipality will invest €300,000 in the project and secure bank loans to the total value of €2 million.
The project includes reconstruction of Smederevo's sewerage, waterworks and Vojvode Stepe, Djure Danicica and Prvomajska streets, the total length being 4 km.
Reconstructed waterworks will supply Smederevo, the second and the third elevation zones and the western suburb, as well as three Sumadia villages, with drinking water.
