Pristina does not want compromise, de-escalation

Director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic stated today that Prime Minister of the temporary institutions of Pristina Albin Kurti, by saying that he does not even want to start drafting the statute for the Community of Serb Municipalities, revealed his true intentions and showed that he is the one who does not want any negotiations, dialogue and compromise.

Petkovic said at a press conference in the Palace of Serbia that everything Kurti is doing is with the goal of covering up that High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borell clearly said in Brussels that the only culprit for the failed talks is Pristina, which has been refusing to implement the agreement on the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities for more than 10 years.

Kurti does not want the Community of Serb Municipalities, nor does he want to discuss de-escalation, he pointed out.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija reiterated that President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic is clearly ready for compromise and dialogue because that is the only way to protect the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.

Petkovic stated that since 3 June, when the EU demanded urgent and immediate de-escalation, we have had 22 escalating moves by Pristina against the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.

Instead of listening to what the EU is asking for in the statement of 3 June, which is to withdraw the Kosovo police, to enter into the procedures for holding elections and to start the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, Kurti has no intentions of going in that direction.

According to him, by accusing Belgrade at today's press conference of being responsible for the failure of the dialogue in Brussels due to the fact that it imposed the condition of formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, Kurti showed that President Vucic is sincerely and strongly fighting for the rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, while he refuses to meet his obligations.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija expressed his concern about the situation on the ground because Kurti's brutal threats indicate that he will not stop with attacks on the Serbian people.
