The economic team for Kosovo-Metohija and southern Serbia stated today that during a two-day visit to Kosovo-Metohija, its representatives met with district heads, municipal coordinators and businessmen and discussed topical issues in the region.
Major concerns for Kosovo businessmen were protection of rights of employees who were made redundant, preservation of Serb-owned companies, impossibility of getting guarantees for loans due to unresolved property and legal rights and double customs clearance of imported goods, reads the statement.
Head of the Economic team Nenad Popovic briefed his interlocutors on future plans of this body and stressed that its crucial task in the talks on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija is preservation of property belonging to Serbs.
Popovic used the occasion to announce that in the forthcoming period the economic team will open several offices in the province.
Popovic said that Kosovo economy should be oriented towards Albanian, Bosnian and Macedonian markets and pointed out that all international development and financial institutions support the creation of a long-term strategy of economic development in Kosovo, as one of the points on which the economic team insists.
