At the opening of the round table discussion themed, “Across borders activities of lawyers”, which is being held at the Sava Centre, Stojkovic spoke on the importance of close international cooperation in the fields of legal protection and advocacy, especially with countries formed after the former Yugoslavia fell apart.
He pointed out the necessity of clearly defining conditions under which in the future, lawyers from countries in the region will be able to represent their clients also in neighbouring countries, and forwarded the proposal that reciprocity be one of the basic principles.
He voiced hope that Croatia will also enter this process because lawyers from foreign countries do not have the right to represent their clients in courts in Croatia.
Serbian Supreme Court President Vida Petrovic-Skero said that cooperation between bar chambers of the countries in the region must be intensified, considering that in the midst of the process of European integration there has been significant contact between national judiciaries.
The round table discussion “Across borders activities of lawyers” was organised by the Serbian Bar Chamber and the Belgrade Bar Chamber on the occasion of marking the Day of Lawyers and the 114th year of this legal profession in Serbia.
